Bart Larson is a native of Kansas and holds a degree in art from Kansas State
University. After working in Nebraska for eight years after graduation, he moved
to Columbia, MO in 1977 and owned and managed Logos Bookstore for eight years.
His photography, more than just a hobby, began in earnest in 1986 after he sold
the bookstore. He noticed he had an eye for photography after a trip with his wife
to Israel and Greece. He produced the Missouri Calendar for several years and was
honored by the University of Missouri in being selected to produce their official
Sesquicentennial Calendar. In 1998, Popular Photography Magazine named him the best
landscape photographer on the internet.
For years he felt caught in the horns of a dilemma, feeling a strong call to
ministry, yet knowing God had blessed him as a photographer. Today he has the perfect
job as a full time hospice chaplain, driving throughout Mid-Missouri visiting patients
and taking pictures as he goes. Many of the photographs you see on this website
were taken while driving to or from patient homes.
A Message from Bart Larson
In the movie Chariots of Fire, Eric Liddell said, "God made me fast. I feel his
pleasure when I run." I too feel that pleasure as a chaplain, as a photographer
and as a writer (my other passion). Should you wish to read about my spiritual journey,
